David Ramirez proclaims that he’s a simple man: he only “needs an acoustic guitar and the words in his mouth to tell the true stories of a wandering man.”

Throughout his month-long residency at Austin’s legendary Cactus Cafe, Ramirez impressed crowds with his engaging brand of insightful songcraft. A little over a month ago, we featured a song from his latest release, Strange Town (you can still grab a download of the tune, here).

But today, we wanted to concentrate on Ramirez’s interpretation of a tune that was marginally popular in the middle-to-late-nineties. “Fake Plastic Trees” was written by Radiohead and appeared on The Bends, from 1995. The sparse arrangement of the song fits Ramirez’s style and voice perfectly. This version of the tune was recently recorded live in KUT’s Studio 1A.
