It’s hard to know what to expect from a band with the name Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Josh Epstein and Daniel Zott joined forces in 2009, when Epstein called Zott after seeing him play a show in Detroit. They began to collaborate and shortly thereafter Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. was born. The name choice was a bold decision and attention grabber, no doubt. Their infectious indie-pop somehow stands out in a category that is quickly becoming crowded and repetitive. The Detroit-based duo will release their debut full-length album, It’s A Corporate World, on June 7.
During this year’s SXSW the band played all over, building buzz among the masses. Watch this video of their performance at the Paste Magazine Party. They will be back in Austin to play Emo’s Saturday, May 28 at 10 pm. Get familiar with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. by listening to their performance in Studio 1a for host Jeff McCord.
