Recently, a group of Anderson High School students participated in a project in which they explored their imaginations and creativity in writing – most specifically, songwriting. Some of those writings were selected by nine local bands who turned them into songs for a special CD compilation called I Don’t Have A Mane.

It’ll be exciting to hear the results of this endeavor, and the list of participating bands covers a wide range of styles:  Ghostland Observatory, Focus Group,{{{SUNSET}}} , Leatherbag, Comanche Club, TV Torso, Crooks, Ringo Deathstarr, and Western Ghost House.

Some of these bands will perform their songs at a CD release party and benefit show, tonight at the Mohawk, 912 Red River:  Comanche Club opens the show, followed by Crooks, Western Ghost House, Focus Group and {{{SUNSET}}}. Doors open at 9 p.m., and proceeds go to creative programs of the Austin Bat Cave, a local nonprofit providing opportunities for children and teens to develop their writing skills.

This one comes highly recommended. Show your support to local musicians and budding writers.
