And then, there were four.

White Denim is now a quartet with the recent addition of guitarist Austin Jenkins. Their fourth album, simply titled D (that could stand for…just about anything you want it to, but vocalist James Petralli says that it was a funny letter, so…it worked), will be released on May 24th.

Yes, they’re still at the top of my list of bands who rock out. It’s interesting to note that, for a band that gives such an electrifying live performance that looks wildly spontaneous, the guys actually rehearse quite a bit to get their playing down solid. And they continue to branch out musically, recently moving toward a fusion sound with distinctive jazz and prog rock elements, and they’re not afraid to add a little country, either.

White Denim has some gigs in the U.S. this month before taking off for a European tour in May. You can see them play tonight at Antone’s, 213 W. 5th St. The evening starts out with performances by Yellow Fever and Hundred Visions. Doors open at 9 p.m. Do it.
