Tuesday podcast 4/19/11
It’s a wide-ranging podcast today — we’ll examine the mysteries of the occult, we’ll have an insider’s perspective on nearly-nude dancing, and other stuff, too.
Starting off the show is a The Person I Admire Most from producer Jake Warga. We use a lot of Jake’s stuff on O’Dark, partially because he’s a darn fine radio producer but mostly because he does a lot of pieces about ghosts and haunted houses, and those are pretty much our host Hawk’s favorite things in the world. This piece isn’t about ghosts or haunted houses, though. It is instead, as the title implies, about the person Jake admires most, his best friend Jenafir. Despite the unorthodox spelling of her name, she’s a finer person than you could ever hope to be.
Next up, it’s the first part of The Story from Glynn Washington and the Snap Judgment crew. It’s a look at inner storytelling, the stories we all tell ourselves to get by, and as is usual for Snap Judgment, this is some fantastic radio. It’s so good, in fact, that we’re not giving you the whole show all in one podcast; we’re saving the other two parts for later.
We’ve got a real quick little nugget from Emily Corwin called This Here Darling #2 (naked!). This enigmatically titled piece features some words of wisdom from ballerina-turned-burlesque dancer Vanessa White, and we like this one a lot. Especially our double secret senior executive producer Mike Lee, who has a special affinity for the world of burlesque.
Then we’ll bring it all home with The Occult Philosophy from the folks at Philosophy Talk. They’ll delve into the history of the occult and the way we’ve looked at these mysteries over the years.
