The Gaden Shartse Monastery dates all the way back to the 15th century and is a part of the rich ancient Tibetan culture. Monks from Gaden Shartse began touring the world in 1989 in an effort to share and preserve their culture by demonstrating the ancient practices they conduct on a daily basis. The monks will be conducting various events around Austin until Wednesday the 13th, and their full schedule can be found here. The monks of Gaden Shartse Monastery join KUT in Studio 1a for some traditional music and chanting.
