This will definitely turn your Monday evening into a very groovy dance party.

It’s easy to be swept up by The Ugly Beats. They truly keep the 60s garage band sound timeless. The Austin-based quintet formed in 2003, and made two full-length albums, Bring On the Beats and Take A Stand with The Ugly Beats on the Get Hip Recordings label. Last year, they made their third release Motor!,  an absolute pop/rock gem with tunes that could have easily come from another era. Keep in mind. though, that they make solid originals, including the tracks on Motor!, save for one – Neil Diamond’s “You’ll Forget.”

Here’s the perfect cure for those Monday blahs: You can see The Ugly Beats play tonight at The Continental Club, 1315 S. Congress. The Ripe starts the show at 10 p.m., followed by the Beats at 11 p.m., and The Jade Idol at midnight. You’ll dig this for sure. Recommended.
