The Lost Pines was formed in 2007 by Talia Bryce and Christian Ward. At the start, the band spent many a time busking on South Congress, but now they’re getting lots of attention in the Texas bluegrass scene and beyond with their superbly crafted songwriting and incredible performances. They were joined by guitarist Marc Lionetti in 2008 and released their full-length debut, Middle of the Morning, that spring. The album’s popularity got them spots on radio, TV and a number of festivals, and before long the band added bassist Brian Durkin, fiddler Jon Kempainen, and Alex Rueb on mandolin.
For their latest album, Sweet Honey, The Lost Pines had help from Grammy Award winning producer Lloyd Maines in the studio. They’re celebrating its release with a show Saturday night at the Scoot Inn, 1308 E. 4th St. at Navasota. Joining in on the festivities are songwriter Brennen Leigh, and duo Hank & Shaidri Alrich. Get there around 9 p.m. Recommended.
