Austin band The Eastern Sea originally began as a solo project in 2005, more of an experimental period for songwriter Matt Hines. After exploring different music styles and going through various lineup changes, Hines found his voice.
There’s been a consistent dreamlike quality to the music of The Eastern Sea, something quite lush and beautiful. It’s a combination of elements of pop, indie and progressive rock, weaving together multiple layers and intricacies that result in this tremendous sound, almost orchestral at times.
The band’s currently at work on their upcoming album Plague. Meanwhile, Hines will do a solo performance this Saturday at the Mohawk, 912 Red River. The bill includes One Hundred Flowers, and two great bands from Denton - Seryn and Young and Brave. Get there around 9 p.m. This one comes recommended.
