ACC Buying More of Highland Mall
Austin Community College has announced it’s under contract to buy 32 acres of land on which the core of the mall sits for $14.6 million. ACC has already purchased the Dillard’s and Macy’s spaces. This latest deal is expected to close in mid-May. After that, ACC would own about 80 percent of the Highland Mall site.
City Clarifies Cell Phone Policy
The City of Austin is adopting new rules on how staff can use personal cell phones and other technologies for city business. The city is the focus of an inquiry for work practices that may be in violation of the Texas Open Meetings Act. KUT’s Erika Aguilar has more on today’s podcast.
How Hispanic Growth Will Impact Redistricting
Efforts to redraw the Texas Congressional map have begun in earnest. The rapid growth in the Hispanic population has some saying Hispanics will be at the heart of just about every redistricting decision made this year.
