LCRA Could Expand Water Supply in the Future
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has awarded the Lower Colorado River Authority a permit to capture water from the Colorado River downstream of Austin during heavy rains and floods. The water would be stored in reservoirs that would be built in Wharton, Colorado and Matagorda Counties. Many growing Central Texas communities, including Austin, buy their water from the LCRA.
AISD Votes to Buy Land for Performing Arts Center
The Austin Independent School District took a big step Monday night toward building a district-wide performing arts center. As KUT’s Nathan Bernier reports on today’s newspod, they agreed to buy a $4 million plot of land near Dell Children’s Medical Center.
Red Flag Warning for Central Texas
Central Texas, including Travis County, is under a red flag warning from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The National Weather Service says dry, windy conditions and low humidity will create critical wildfire conditions. The Texas Forest Service is on alert for these conditions in central, west and northwest Texas Tuesday.
