Accordionist Joel Guzman was once considered a child prodigy, known among fellow (much older) accordion players as “El Pequeño Gigante,” or the small giant. He continues to play the accordion today, spanning and bending genres such as Tejano, jazz, country, salsa, R&B and rock. Joel Guzman will be joined in Studio 1a by frequent collaborator Sarah Fox, in addition to several other accomplished accordionists including Radoslav Lorkovic and Zhenya Rock. The reason for this accumulation of accomplished accordianists? Squeezebox Mania, an accordion centric mini-festival Saturday April 30th at Threadgill’s.
