Once upon a time, a band from Austin made an album.  And it landed with a thud.  Sound familiar?  Only this story has a different ending. A year after its release in the States, ‘Kontiki’, a 14 track CD by Austin’s Cotton Mather, made quite a splash on the other side of the pond.  Among the cognoscenti, it is regarded as an influential powerpop classic– far ahead of its time.   Now long out of print, an effort’s underway to bring it back– along with a CD’s worth of vintage recordings never before heard by the public.   KUT’s David Brown reports.
