The City of Austin provides citizens plenty of opportunity to give opinions.  And now it’s providing a space where you can share ideas that the city didn’t even ask for. It’s called speakupaustin.org and since it launched people are posting plenty of ideas. Some are familiar, like calls to create bike-share hubs. Some are less so, like proposals to ban Styrofoam city-wide or redraw the official seal of the City of Austin.

KUT’s Emily Donahue spoke with Austin City Engagement Consultant, Larry Schooler. First question: What’s the point of this site in a city that prides itself on engaging citizenry? Click the player above to hear his answer.
