Singer/songwriter Bobby Long moved from Calne, Wiltshire, South West England to London in 2004. In addition to attending university classes, Long took advantage of London’s music scene and attended as many open mic nights has he could. By 2009 his pursuit of a musical career was well on it’s way by playing 160 shows in seven months in seven countries. During that time Long sold over 10,000 copies of his bootleg EP Dirty Pond Songs, which were available exclusively at his shows.
More recently, Long gained attention for his work on the Twilight Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, which featured his song, Let Me Sign, co-written with fellow musician Marcus Foster and performed by star Robert Pattinson, and he released his newest album, A Winter Tale. Long likens his music of this album to “drops of rain on a bull fighter’s back, like punches breaking through a Windy Gail.”
Bobby Long joined KUT at the Hilton stage for a special SXSW performance. Today’s Song of the Day, Dead and Done, is from that show. One more thing! Long is playing in Austin this weekend, April 9 at Lamberts. We recommend it!
