Just in time for Mother’s Day, Austin-area potters artists are joining together with some of the hottest ceramic artists from around the country for the eighth annual Art of the Pot studio tour. At five different studios around town, you can see artists at work and sample their wares. One of the  studios on the tour is the ArtStream Nomadic Gallery (an airstream trailer that’s been converted into a mobile art gallery), which will be parked on South Congress for the duration of the festival. In addition to buying pottery, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn a bit about the making of this functional artform, and you can even try your hand at the pottery throwing contest (please keep in mind, though, that in the world of pottery, “throwing” means “turning on a wheel,” not “hurling lovely pottery down the street”).
