April 29, 2011 – This Week in Membership
Holly Gaete with a lot of boxesTonight is KUT Live featuring The Flatlanders in the original ACL Studio. The studio is in the building where we work, which is very convenient. Kim has been working on getting ice, beer and treats set up. Kayla will post signs around the building because we’re a bit hard to find. I don’t have an official job until 6 p.m. when I sit outside to welcome the really early attendees. It is a long day for those of us working the event, but it’s also a fun day. We get to catch some of the show and we get to hang out with KUT volunteers. If you are interested in being a volunteer, check out the volunteer page at kut.org/volunteer. Note: we do not need any volunteers for this show. We will contact you with future opportunities when they become available.
My office is absolutely full of boxes. In fact, we can’t have our normal morning meetings in my office because of all of the boxes. I have T-shirts, umbrellas and computer bags all in here. The computer bags are very nice, but are very big so they take up a lot of room. I have every intention of cleaning up my office today, but I had the same intention yesterday as well.
In other station news, KUT partnered with NPR to for a live webcast of Okkervil River performing songs from their not yet released album at the Cactus Cafe. Membership didn’t have much to do with that show. There was a fun buzz in the station on the day of the show.
And finally, all of this talk about weddings really makes me want to have wedding cake! I guess I’ll have to settle for something on Guadalupe near campus instead.
Happy Friday!
