You can always tell when somebody big is in KUT’s studio by the number of staffers hanging around the control room. The Walkmen had people hanging out in the hallway just to listen to the tunes. The N.Y. based quintet brought their crisp brand of indie-rock to our studios in advance of their show at Stubbs’s Outdoor Amphitheater. Forming in 2000 from the remnants of two N.Y. garage bands, The Walkmen have settled on a decidedly more polished sound, using keyboards and big bright guitar sounds to give their music a shimmering quality while lead singer Hamilton Leithauser’s plaintive voice textures the songs with emotion. The band is currently touring behind their latest full length record, Lisbon, released late last summer. The Walkmen are Hamilton Leithauser on guitars and vocals, Paul Maroon on guitar and piano, Walter Martin on organ and bass, Matt Barrick on drums, and Peter Bauer on bass and organ. Step on in to Studio 1a with us and enjoy The Walkmen.
