SXSW 2011 Edition: South By San Jose and KUT Showcases

What? It’s only Thursday?! There’s a lot going on for this year’s SXSW, and it’s really tough to pick favorites from the long list of shows going on (especially those fabulous day shows), but here are a few selections courtesy of the Austin Music Minute that will hopefully get you inspired!
The 12th Annual South By San Jose showcase continues today and goes on through Sunday (from noon to 8 p.m. each day), at the Hotel San Jose and Jo’s Coffee on S. Congress. Today’s line-up: The Tillers, Ruby Jane, Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion, The Mastersons, Dry The River, John Grant with Midlake, The Civil Wars, Hacienda, Vetiver, The Cave Singers, and special headlining guest Wanda Jackson. Unbelievable!
Here’s another good one to check out today at the ND at 501 Studios, 501 I-35: The Prefix Day Party (starting at 11 a.m.) -

And a quick look ahead to Friday for KUT’s fantastic showcases, starting at the Hilton Downtown (500 East 4th St.) at 9 a.m. with Bobby Long, the Old 97′s and Middle Brother, then at noon at the Austin Convention Center Day Stage with The Black Angels, Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears, and Fitz and The Tantrums.
