Late last spring, a young talent named Sarah Jaffe emerged from Denton, Texas with her second album, Suburban Nature. She’s been labeled as a singer-songwriter, but that’s a disservice to her music–a fact easily highlighted by Jaffe’s SXSW set for KUT at Momo’s last Friday night.

Yes, Jaffe utilizes an acoustic guitar, and her songs are often deeply personal. But in the few years she’s been in the indie spotlight, she’s realized how to stand out in a crowded genre. Her music is insistent and head-turning, with the occasional electronic flourish that constantly keeps you guessing. It’s all anchored by Jaffe’s direct voice, and her confidence in front of the mic is refreshing and invigorating. Live, Jaffe’s songs take on another dimension. Her band is made up of seasoned Texans like Scott Danbom from Centro-Matic and Robert Gomez, another Denton solo artist.

Jaffe debuted a new song during her Momo’s set, and now we’re giving you a sneak peek for today’s song of the day. Here’s “A Sucker For Your Marketing,” by Sarah Jaffe.
