Veteran Documentary and Journalistic Photographer Maggie Steber wouldn’t describe herself as an artist, yet the beauty, imagery, sentiment and feeling she captures in her photos is –to say the least—transcendent. She sat down with producer Rebecca McInroy to share her perspective on photography, her love affair with Haiti and her maverick spirit. We hope you enjoy this edition of Portrait of An Artist with Maggie Steber. Check out the video and listen to the full audio piece right here.

The Teresa Lozano Long Institute for Latin American Studies at The University of Texas will be hosting a photo exhibit of Maggie Steber’s work from Haiti through April 08, 2011. “Haiti between Destruction and Hope” features a series of composite images of post-earthquake Port-au-Prince.
