175th Texas Independence Day
Today marks 175 years since Texas proclaimed its independence from Mexico. There will be a celebration in the Capitol Rotunda at noon, as well as a Texas Independence Day parade and 5K race this Saturday.

Mayor Wants to Raise Cap on Campaign Donations
Campaigns for some Austin City Council seats could get a lot more expensive in the future under a proposal from Mayor Lee Leffingwell. Along with re-instituting geographic districts for some council members, the mayor has suggested raising the cap on campaign contributions. KUT’s Matt Largey looks at the arguments for and against the idea on today’s pod.
