Travis County’s Burn Ban Extended

Travis County Commissioners voted yesterday to extend the county’s burn ban. High fire danger  conditions are forecast Wednesday for western Travis County. Warm temperatures, low humidity and windy conditions mean any fire started outside would spread rapidly.

Workers Over 50 Struggle To Get Jobs

The nation’s unemployment rate ticked down last month as businesses started to hire at least a few more workers. The labor market is still tough, even in Texas, which has done comparatively well. But there’s one group of workers who often have the hardest time finding a job. KUT’s Matt Largey reports on how workers over 50 are faring in the job market.

UT Women’s Basketball Moves on to Big 12 Quarterfinals

The UT women’s basketball team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship. The seventh seeded Longhorns beat Missouri 79-66 yesterday in the opening round. The Horns now take on Texas A&M in the quarterfinals this evening in Kansas City, Missouri.
