Pinetop Perkins’ Funeral Monday

Funeral services will be held in Austin today for legendary blues pianist Pinetop Perkins.  He passed away last week at the age of 97.  Perkins was the oldest Grammy award winner ever.  His funeral is at 5 p.m. at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home on North Lamar Blvd.  Antone’s is holding a celebration of his life later Monday night.

Who Owns Groundwater Under Private Property?

The last Texas legislative session made few waves in addressing water issues.  With budget cuts, redistricting, and immigration issues this session  it didn’t seem likely water would get much attention.  But a case before the State Supreme Court has lawmakers hustling, trying to be the first to answer the age-old question of who owns the groundwater beneath private land?  KUT’s Erika Aguilar has the story on today’s podcast.

Texas A&M to Take on Baylor in Regional Championship

The Baylor Bears women’s basketball team will play Texas A&M in the NCAA’s Dallas regional final.  Top-seeded Baylor advanced by beating Wisconsin-Green Bay 86-76 Sunday night.  Texas A&M beat Georgia 79-38 this weekend. The Aggies have lost to Baylor three times this year.  Those teams meet again Tuesday night in Dallas.
