Singer and songwriter John Vanderslice comes from a very eclectic musical background to say the least. In various interviews, he has stated his influences as ranging from Neutral Milk Hotel to Public Enemy and he frequently includes the work of various poets in his songwriting. His eclectic tastes manifested themselves in both his work with experimental pop band Mk Ultra and in his own solo work, which is an alt/indie rock affair. He has released several albums, all of which have earned critical acclaim. John Vanderslice joined KUT at the Hilton during SXSW.
