Many people think of jazz as an antiquated and bland genre of music reserved for history books and old fogeys; a relic of our common American ancestry that doesn’t really matter anymore. I challenge those naysayers to listen to Eddy Hobizal’s latest piano compositions and not get excited about jazz music. His new songs are anything but boring. Hobizal’s driving piano keeps things moving without the wild improvisation or extended solos common to traditional jazz.  Eddy Hobizal recently brought his band to Studio 1a to perform some of the songs off his forthcoming album Kinetic.   Enjoy Eddy Hobizal on piano, David Hobizal and Kyle Thompson on drums, Jake Owen on guitar, Daniel Durham on bass and Erin Ivey and Tody Castillo on vocals.

Be sure to catch Eddy Hobizal at Antone’s this Thursday for his Kinetic CD release party.
