South By Southwest Music gets underway Wednesday.  Hundreds of bands from across the globe will converge on Austin. Some have made it big, some have dreams of making it big.

In its 25th year, South By Southwest has, undeniably, made it big.

Now, a new documentary premiering this week as part of SXSW Film tracks that success. “Outside Industry: The Story of SXSW” weaves together new interviews with archive photos, recordings and video to tell the story of South By Southwest from the beginning. The film’s director Alan Berg joined us recently to talk about making “Outside Industry.”

“Outside Industry” premieres Wednesday, 4:30 p.m., at the Paramount Theater. There’s a second showing Saturday at the Austin Convention Center’s Vimeo Theater.
