When Chris Brecht spits out a rapid-fire lyric with his lazy drawl, it is easy to imagine a young Brecht splayed out on shag carpet with  ‘Subterranean Homesick Blues’ spinning on the family turntable. The Dylan influence is on display in his languid, twangy delivery. But Brecht’s music is more Nashville Skyline than beat poetry.

Chris Brecht’s music is equally appealing for fans of  indie folk and outlaw country. The Austin songwriter has a self-professed obsession for alt. country. He creates music with one eye on retro style and the other on progressive songwriting. Brecht’s most recent offering, Dead Flower Motel, is available on iTunes, or you can stream it off his website, www.deadflowermotel.com

Brecht recently appeared in Studio 1a to perform some of his favorite cuts.
