Austin’s office of the Police Monitor is looking for volunteers to serve on its Citizen Review Panel.

The panel works with the Police Monitor to review disputed Internal Affairs cases and critical incidents.

Margo Frasier is Austin’s Police Monitor. She took over from Cliff Brown in December 2010. Frasier spoke with KUT’s Emily Donahue about the panel’s work and her vision for the role of the Office of Police Monitor. Among changes Frasier said she would like to see were a more active role in police investigations and subpoena power in investigations.
