In his new documentary at South by Southwest this year, Austin writer, actor and filmmaker Turk Pipkin tells the story of building a high school in rural Kenya. “Building Hope” follows Pipkin as he and his team struggle at times to build the school in the tiny town of Mahiga.

Pipkin says it all began when he went to the town to plant a tree. He says first they built a water system, and then someone started talking about dreams of building a high school.

There’s one more chance to see “Building Hope” during SXSW; 6 p.m. Thursday, at the Regal Arbor Cinema.
