In 1991, the City of Austin passed a resolution that proclaimed our city is the “Live Music Capital of the World.” AMP is doing its part to keep it that way.

AMP, or Austin Music People, is a nonprofit organization formed last year to unite everyone who has a role in the local music scene – musicians, music lovers, the people who book shows, promote them, or run venues; the people working the bars or working the door, graphic artists who design show posters, – each and every music and creative professional who is a part of the overall picture. AMP focuses on the commitment to nurture and maintain Austin’s music culture through networking and mutual support.

AMP is having its official launch party with a massive show Thursday night at ACL Live at the Moody Theater, 310 Willie Nelson Blvd. in Downtown Austin.  The bill, of course, is an impressive list of Austin all-stars: Ghostland Observatory, Blue October, Court Yard Hounds, Alejandro Escovedo, Brownout!, Bavu Blakes, The Coveters, and Bright Light Social Hour.

Holy smokes. What a party. The music begins at 7 p.m. This one’s a must see.
