The live music hurricane known round these parts as South By Southwest is breathing down our necks. Already, music lovers are being bombarded with show invitations and requests for RSVPs. It makes the brain explode.

But there’s a special event this weekend that’s tailor-made for Austinites. A Local Night For Local People is a mini-showcase of all Austin-based bands, all of whom are making their distinctive marks upon the local music scene. It’s two stages with eight bands total, delicious food (homegrown cuisine as prepared by the various bands), spectacular prizes (can you say “FREE pints for a very long time”?) and assorted organized chaos that will make it a fabulous night to remember.

A Local Night For Local People happens Saturday night at The Ghost Room, 304 W. 4th St. Doors open nice and early at 7 p.m. to get the party started, with the live music beginning at around 7:45 p.m. on the outside stage first. The line-up is superb:

Outside – Town Hall Devils, The Ripe, New Roman Times, STEREO IS A LIE

Inside – Western Ghost House, Intimate Stranger, One Hundred Flowers, The Pons

Do not miss out. Highly recommended.
