Austin Energy received 100 proposals from 35 companies after soliciting bids in February for solar-and-wind generated electricity. The city-run utility got an overwhelming response in its search to replace alternative energy sources, with a request for proposals to supply 200 megawatts of electricity, as it plans to offset the loss of power capacity under expiring contracts.
