Tee Double knows how to represent.

No exaggeration. Aside from making his own mark as hip hop artist, producer, promoter, emcee, and master freestyler (think free-form poet but add the grooves and beats), Tee Double also gives voice to a segment in the local music scene that is lacking recognition. The Austin-born rapper draws attention to countless other hip hop and rap artists, both local and those traveling through for shows, to bring more recognition and usher in a new appreciation for “The Artform.” He’s also worked as the National Urban Hip-Hop Coordinator for SXSW to invite more urban artists to the festival.

Now’s the time to see for yourself. Tee Double just released a brand new album, The Soul Traveling Experience, and will feature some new tracks at his gig tonight at Malverde, 400 W. 2nd St. DJ Honeycomb will spin beforehand, and she’ll serve up random picks from her vinyl collection that Tee Double will freestyle to. Awesomeness all around. Get there at 9 p.m. Highly recommended.

-PLEASE NOTE: The mp3 below says the show is tomorrow; it’s actually tonight. Many thanks to Terrany Johnson for providing the correction.
