Austin singer-songwriter Colin Gilmore is building his reputation the old-fashioned way: hard work and imagination. He and his new wife’s idea of the perfect honeymoon was a tour of Japan, where he played eight cities in 10 days, complete with a different backing band at each gig. Since then, his audiences have been steadily growing in size and enthusiasm. Gilmore has finished recording Goodnight Lane, which Grammy-winner Lloyd Maines co-produced. He has spent the last year touring the US, opening for such acts as Alejandro Escovedo, The Flatlanders, Mason Jennings, Joe Ely and many more. He recently played SXSW, NXNE in Toronto and even sang the national anthem at a White Sox game at Cellular Field in Chicago. This year he is touring to promote his upcoming album. He stopped by Studio 1A during Music with Jay Trachtenberg.
