Our 2001 documentary, produced in cooperation with NPR, on the black liquid that revolutionized the 20th century.
The piece begins with the discovery of oil at Spindletop, Texas, and spans to the status of domestic oil production today.
The piece first aired as a three-part series on All Things Considered and was expanded into a one-hour documentary that aired on KUT and then was broadcast on dozens of stations nationwide.
The piece was reported and co-produced by John Burnett. Wayne Bell was co-producer and sound engineer.
