The City of Austin’s franchise agreement with Time Warner Cable changes in 2011. Now money that Austin used to rely on to fund public access TV could be a thing of the past.

At the same time, the city’s existing contract with the company that runs public access channels is expiring. So Austin city management is asking what the audience wants out of public access TV. This change would not include “Channel 6”, the City’s own government Channel.

KUT’s Emily Donahue spoke with Austin’s Community Engagement Consultant Larry Schooler about an event scheduled on Wednesday July 14th at City Hall, where people can participate in person. Input will also be taken from online, phone and email.
