The City of Austin is holding a public hearing to figure out how to spend federal housing dollars. The City’s website reports that, “Austin expects to receive more than $14 million through four Department of Housing and Urban Development programs: Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships Program, Emergency Shelter Grant, and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS. In order to receive these HUD grants, the City must submit an annual Action Plan that provides the community needs, resources, priorities, and proposed activities regarding housing, community development, economic development and public services. The Action Plan for Fiscal Year 2010-2011 is due to HUD on or before August 15, 2010.”
