Austin’s “Green 30 Challenge” encourages people to go smaller and compost more. The City wants people to downsize to a 30-gallon green garbage cart; take a composting class (free); and purchase a compost system by August 15th. People who do, are eligible for a rebate up to 75% on a home composting system up to $75.00. The City says amounts are limited so it’s encouraging folks to hustle. You can find details here. KUT’s Emily Donahue spoke with Jennifer Herber from the Public Information Office at the City of Austin.
