Austin’s Taxing Taxi Situation

A Taxicab Task Force is examining everything from new taxi stands to the number of permits and airport trips.

Austin’s got many transportation challenges. But one perennially tricky item has been taxis – from franchises to permits to pay for drivers. Now the city’s started a task force to look into concerns about the Austin taxi scene. And the public is invited to attend. The first meeting is Thursday, May 6. But the meetings will recur every Thursday at One Texas Center on Barton Springs Road. You can hear KUT’s Emily Donahue’s interview with Larry Schooler below.
