From March 1 to March 16, 2010, Dolly Parton fans will have a rare chance to win a guitar signed by the Queen of Country Music—and to support women and girls in music. Proceeds from the online giveaway will support the Girls Rock Camp Alliance and Girls Rock Austin.
Every donation of ten dollars or more will register participants for two chances to win the signed guitar, which is a Takamine acoustic. There is no limit on the number of times an individual may enter. For more information, or to donate, go to www.girlsrockcampaustin.org.
Girls Rock Austin is proud to organize Girls Rock Camp Austin, the only non-profit camp in Austin where accomplished women musicians teach girls of all backgrounds and abilities—from absolute beginners to rock-n-roll prodigies—in an all-female learning environment.
Girls Rock Austin is affiliated with The Girls Rock Camp Alliance, an international coalition of organizations whose shared mission is to empower girls and women using the tools of music education to foster self-esteem and confidence. To this end, the GRCA promotes, strengthens, and expands services provided by its affiliated camps.
Dolly Parton once said, “I feel blessed that I still have the little Dolly in my heart. I’m still the same girl that wants to squeeze every little drop out of life that I can.” Approximately half of all campers attend Girls Rock Camp Austin with some form of scholarship supported by private donations.
