A new conservatory aims to do away with the idea of the starving artist.

Actor Jim Hart is not a fan of the “starving artist” stereotype. He believes that, with proper entrepreneurial training, artists can make a living doing what the love. That’s why, years ago, he opened a conservatory in Oslo to teach that very concept. Having tried it out on the Norwegians, he’s bringing his idea to his native Texas, opening the Austin Conservatory of Professional Arts on South Congress Avenue.

The Austin Conservatory of Professional Arts will begin evening workshops on April 15, and is taking applications now.
