Raveonettes Forced To Cancel ACL, Parish Shows
The news hit MySpace, Twitter, and Facebook in one fell swoop: Danish pop duo The Raveonettes will not be able to make it to the Austin City Limits Music Festival, nor will they be able to play the show scheduled at The Parish tonight, due to Visa problems.
According to an entry posted today in the band’s MySpace blog, the trouble arose from the chaos surrounding the Olympics. “Due to the bidding on the 2016 Olympics, Copenhagen has transformed itself into a celebrity hot-spot,” says Sune Rose Wagner. “This, unfortunately means that our drummer and bass player have not been able to get an appointment at the American Embassy in Copenhagen cause the embassy is busy dealing with Obama, Oprah, etc…We’re so incredibly sorry but I’m afraid celebrities and sports are more important to some people.”
No word yet on a a rescheduled performance for a later date.
