Mike Zito Performs Tonight at The Continental Club

For St. Louis-born songwriter Mike Zito, the guitar became a holy grail of sorts at a young age. All of his heroes knew how to work it and create the music that would deeply influence him for the rest of his life. It was also a good thing that young Zito got himself a job at a local music shop. It was a very cool way of keeping track of all the latest music coming in – and it pushed him to follow his dream.

After years of intensive D.I.Y. work promoting his songwriting and playing gigs, Zito finally got a break with last year’s debut full-length release Today, on the Eclecto Groove Records label. Now he brings his brand of Americana blues-rock up a notch with Pearl River, a funky, gritty tribute to the music he grew up with mixed with a more mature songwriting style.

Zito’s current tour brings him to Austin for a show tonight at The Continental Club, 1315 S. Congress. Austin songwriter Mario Matteoli opens the show. Excellent double bill at the perfect venue. Things get underway around 10 p.m. Check it, man.
