Influential Texas Judge Dies
A Texas judge whose rulings led to desegregation in public schools and an overhaul of state prisons has died.
U.S. District Judge William Wayne Justice’s wife told KUT News Wednesday morning that he passed away Tuesday in Austin.
Judge Justice was known for his rulings in favor of minority rights and voting rights.
The University of Texas at Austin Law School has a Public Interest Law Center in his name.
He was 89 years old.
