Colour Revolt Plays Tonight at The Parish
Oxford, Mississippi indie rockers Colour Revolt first began playing together as Foxxe – a nice extra couple of x’s in there – then as Fletcher before recording their first full-length, Friends Don’t Speak. The name they have now is a slightly obscure reference to Edwin Abbot’s Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions, a novella filled with observations of Victorian culture and social hierarchy, but most admired for its exploration of dimensions.
They released a self-titled EP in 2006, and rapidly gained a devoted following, securing tours with Dinosaur Jr., The Black Lips and Okkervil River among many other bands. Their most recent album, Plunder, Beg and Curse, was released through Fat Possum Records last year.
Color Revolt has Texas dates on their current tour. They return to Austin for a show tonight at The Parish, 214 E. 6th St. Opening the show are Atlanta band Winston Audio, and Austin trio Ume. This is a pretty cool triple bill worth catching on a Monday night. Check it out.
