ACL ‘09 Artist Profile: Daniel Johnston
Few musicians continue to capture Austin’s imagination better than Daniel Johnston. Arriving in Austin in the early 80s with several albums worth of low-fi home recordings and an eccentric personality Johnston quickly became an icon of Austin’s evolving music scene. His murals like, “Hi How Are You” can still be seen around town and on t-shirts. The Devil and Daniel Johnston, a documentary profiling Daniel Johnston was released a few years ago to critical acclaim.
