Video: The Mercers in Studio 1a

September 10, 2009 9:46 am by: Peter Babb

The Mercers are influenced by cheap beer. And big dreams. And sad, sarcastic pop bursts. Those are just the ones they tell you about. Their sound however, gives you a better idea. There’s some Guided By Voices, The Who, Wilco and many other bands whose names you are familiar with. It is a testament to their ability that they manage to sound like all of these while still bringing a great deal of originality to the table. They’ve got a new EP called Hovercraft. Watch The Mercers cover “Lowlands” by The Gourds in this exclusive video from KUT’s Studio 1a.
