The Mother Truckers Blast the House Tonight at Antone’s

September 17, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

The Mother Truckers break through musical genres. They bust out of them, really, rocking hard with country and blues, and shake the room down to its very foundation at every one of their live shows.

The core of this hard-rockin’ outfit is made up of Josh Zee on vocals and lead guitar, and Teal Collins on vocals and guitar – and ukelele, when the occasion calls for it. Zee has a history of rock ‘n’ roll in his blood, and Collins has heavy roots in jazz. When the two first met at an open mic night awhile back, something got their wheels clicking. They pooled each other’s talents together, and in 2002, the Truckers band was born.

They’ll be starting a month-long residency at The Continental Club in October, but you can catch them tonight at Antone’s, 213 W. 5th St. The show starts around 10-ish in the p.m. Take your earplugs, and brace yourself. This is one fine show. Recommended.
