Shotgun Party: “Paints A Yates”

You’d never guess that the musicians in Austin’s Shotgun Party don’t originally hail from Texas. Their infectious blend of country, swing, and 1920s jazz owes a great deal to Bob Wills, but they infuse it with a youthful energy that appeals to all generations. Forming in 2006, the members of Shotgun Party immediately developed an undeniable chemistry thanks to relentless touring and the strengths of songwriter, guitarist, and lead singer Jenny Parrott, fiddler Katy Rose Cox, and bassist Andrew Thomas Austin-Petersen. They are currently holding down a weekly residency at the Continental Club where they perform every Wednesday night throughout the month of September.

Shotgun Party recently took some time to record a session at KUT. Here’s a song from that session. It’s called “Paints A Yates.”
